Invitation to the Lecture “Plant Cryopreservation: Messages from the Past to the Future” by Professor P. T. Lynch

On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., the Czech Agrifood Research Center will welcome Professor Paul T. Lynch from the University of Derby (UK), a leading expert in the field of cryopreservation. In his lecture entitled „Plant Cryopreservation: Messages from the Past to the Future,“ Professor Lynch will present the past development and current trends in plant tissue preservation, their practical applications, and prospects for further research. The lecture is intended for professionals and students in biology and agriculture.

Professor Lynch worked at the Environmental Sustainability Research Centre, where he served as Chair of the university’s Professorial Council and Head of the university’s Research Management Department. He is also the Director of the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust. He is the author of over 70 scientific publications, focusing primarily on biotechnology for the preservation of plant genetic material, particularly in the area of cryopreservation methods. His international contribution lies in spreading knowledge about the cryopreservation of medically important plants.

Our institution has been collaborating with Professor Lynch since 1997, when he participated in the introduction of in vitro cultivation methods for apple trees. In addition to joint scientific publications, he has also been involved in the training of our researchers professionally for many years.
